Surgical operation that consists of the total reshaping of the abdomen and waist. The main candidates for this surgery are women who have had one or more children or who have lost a lot of weight.
The operation is carried out under general or regional anaesthetic and comprises five key steps:
- Dermolipectomy which involves removing all of the skin and excess fat from the abdomen, called a stomach apron.
- The abdominal wall is reconstructed using stitches to join the rectus abdominis muscles.
- Skin closure: stitching of the flap of skin that was formed.
- Repositioning of the navel (neoumbilicoplasty).
- Finally, if necessary, the liposuction of the flanks and hips, which is used to reshape the contour of the body.
Technique used to remove unwanted deposits of fat from the superficial areas of the body, including the chin, neck and cheeks; the upper arms and area above the breasts; the abdomen, glutes, hips, thighs and knees. Liposuction is not used as a substitute for losing weight, but as a way of removing localised fat that cannot be easily removed by other means.
If the procedure is not very extensive, liposuction can be done under local anaesthetic to numb the area, combined with sedatives that will make you feel a little relaxed. You will be awake but relaxed and will feel minimal discomfort. If you are planning on undergoing liposuction of a large area or to treat various areas, you will probably need a general anaesthetic. This normally requires one day of hospital admission.
It is known as non-scalpel surgery since it doesn’t involve plastic surgery, but it shapes the body at the same time as removing the volumes of fat that disfigure it. It is suitable for young people who, seemingly being of a normal weight, cannot manage to remove small accumulations of fat with physical exercise or with strict and sacrificed food diets; but also in older people or those who are overweight.
Liposculpture allows fat to be removed from the body at the same time as specifically shaping the area that is being treated, being considered as an artisanal, sophisticated and much less traumatic work.
At our clinic, we highlight the launch of the new Body-Jet Evo. It is a water jet assisted liposuction, which is being implemented around the world to carefully obtain fat tissue from the actual patient and lipotransfer.
